Hamburg, a noteworthy port city in northern Germany, is associated with the North Sea by the Elbe River. It's crossed by many channels, and furthermore contains expansive regions of parkland. Close to its center, Inner Alster lake is spotted with pontoons and encompassed by bistros. The city's focal Jungfernstieg road interfaces the Neustadt (new town) with the Altstadt (old town), home to milestones like eighteenth century St. Michael's Church. The Museum Mile starts with the Hamburger Kunsthalle, a gallery that has some expertise in European painting. It closes with the Deichtorhallen, a contemporary craftsmanship historical center. The Hamburgische Staatsoper, where the state musical drama and artful dance perform, is found quite recently north of Jungfernstieg, Hamburg's most chief shopping avenue. Pro boutiques line pedestrianized Colonnaden road, and Spitalerstrasse has retail chains. Nightlife revolves around Reeperbahn in the St. Pauli quarter, home to bars and a shady area of town.
